Is there life beyond C2 Proficiency? The answer is a resounding yes.
We have been working with English teachers for quite some time and more often than not we hear C2 Proficiency holders express their willingness to continue honing their language skills and sharpening their language awareness in a more systematic way: attending a well-designed course, working on carefully planned tasks, and receiving consistently useful feedback from an experienced and qualified tutor.
As this is a course for teachers, we decided to work on a variety of topics that were specifically tailored to their current needs. Even though our focus is on language, we kept in mind that this should be a blend of teaching and learning.
This is our initial syllabus:
- Writing skills — a lesson plan;
- Reading skills — ELT methodology, international affairs, pop culture;
- Speaking skills — speaking at a conference;
- Phonology & Listening — different Englishes: Chinese, British, and American “non-standard” varieties;
- Discourse — spoken texts.
The reason why we have deliberately decided to use the term initial syllabus is because we understand that teachers will bring amazing contributions to the course. Hence, we are going to be better able to co-construct the remaining of the syllabus together.
Who is this course for?
This course is for teachers who are already C2 users of the English language, but feel they would like to broaden their linguistic skills further while dealing with topics that are relevant to teaching.
In order to assure high-standard lessons, only certified teachers are eligible. Those who hold one or more of these certificates are suitable for this course:
